Biography
I am Ronaldo Mercado. I entered the seminary in the Fall of 2008. I am in my second year Theology at Assumption Seminary, San Antonio. I was born and grew up in the Philippines. I was raised in a devout Catholic family with four children. As a child, my family life was close and fun-loving. Our faith permeated most aspects of my formative years. Faith was very important to us and we prayed as a family together each night. We were taught when times are tough, we should cling to our faith since it sustains us. I came here in the USA on September 2002, working in Wilbarger General (County) Hospital, in Vernon, TX. I worked in the Laboratory Department as a lead Medical Laboratory Technologist in the second shift. It was through service to the elderly and the sick that I saw Christ in their midst. It transpired me to seek and long on how I can serve my fellow men. This led me to the vocation office of the Diocese where they helped me to understand my calling and vocation to serve. It is Jesus Christ’s presence in the Most Holy Eucharist and fervent prayer to Our Lady that keep me grounded and helped me continue my journey for the service to my brothers and sisters in Christ. I hope that you keep me in your daily prayers for the fulfillment of God’s will that already began in my life. Peace of Jesus Christ be with you all!
